Topsoil
I brought in a little over four tandems of topsoil. This was a major project that was bugging me. Now my yard is almost ready to start planting the Japanese Garden. Special thanks to the neighbors that helped! Photos added

This & That
The better half has received the grades from college, “A” in all the classes again. A 4.0 grade point average half way through the degree. Wow!
Summer is almost over and I have yet to fish.
Today I drilled a hole in the air conditioner to let water out of the tray only to drill into the coil.

The rain really cooled things down and my little critters are happy
The rain really cooled things down and my little critters are happy again, this morning it was like the spring scene in Bambi. All the wildlife in the area are moving around again.
I walked outside to have a furry little critter better known as a chipmunk look up at me, squeak, and disappear almost as fast as a hummingbird. I thought to myself, “Wow, that was fast.”. Speaking of humming birds, they are everywhere. We have three feeders and wow about 20 birds.

So having to check out to see if my Northern Harrier photo isn’t a young Cooper's Hawk. A friend of ours asked me if maybe I was mistaken. What, and admit I may be wrong? Now this is a blog entry.

I added some new photos to the wildlife section today.

Northern Harrier
Mood:  surprised
Well I woke up early this morning and went in the living room to watch the birds. Like lightning coming down this big bird hit the ground. It looked like a hawk but it turns out to be a female Northern Harrier. Not a hawk but in the family. It missed the bird it was after. So it just stared at me while I took it?s photo. This is why I always keep a camera at hand ready to go. Photo now located in my wildlife photos

Eastern Wood Pewee
Mood:  surprised
Eastern Wood Pewee During the summer days of cutting the lawn I would see this little bird follow me around catching the moths as they came up from the grass. I always thought it was an overly friendly sparrow. Much to my surprise when I did get to see it on a branch, I noticed a crest. Sparrows don?t have crests! So I broke out the camera and off it went. This was a routine for awhile until it got use to me. I finally was able to get a good photo of it. The photo is below. It turns out to be an Eastern Wood Pewee. I never heard of this type of bird. They like the woods and the farm areas by cattle because the movement stirs up the bugs. So my new big fun is to go out and move the grass around until a moth comes up and down comes my little buddy. I can be right next to it now about a foot away and it won?t fly away. It will just look at me with that look of, ?Well, get to work finding me bugs.?

Baby Great Horned Owl
The birds were gong crazy one day so I went to step outside to see what was the problem; my screen door hit this big furry thing. It turned out to be a baby Great Horned Owl. It barely flew over towards my car and then climbed its way up. Yep Climbed, I have all kinds of scratches on my car now. But I don?t care. How often do you get to see such a beautiful creature up so close and in the wild? Its relaxing to hear them at night and pretty cool too. The photo is below. Photo now located in my wildlife photo album.
